I repurchased this coffee maker because Kitchen Aid didn't have a newer one I liked and because I broke the caraffe from the old one and couldn't find another one on Amazon. The old one had stains and wear on the hot plate from months of cleaning and using. I have to use a paper towel under the lid and cone because if not, it will build up a lot of coffee residue. It keeps the coffee hot for 2 hours max then the plate shuts off. The flavor is good with regular weekly cleaning of the reservoir.Year Year Review:Still like everything about this pot, highly recommend...Two Month review, what we’ve learned. This is an above average coffee maker. We have owned everything from Mr. Coffee to Cuisinart.Removable water reservoir – Nice lift handle to remove and replace. Lid is an exact fit, tilt it up just a bit and it will sit right in place. Easy to clean.Basket – Use the lift ring to put the basket back in place, it will line up perfect and drop in place, it does not like the get close and release method.Pot – No plastic taste others reported, but we did run the clean cycle before first use, read the manual for cleaning instructions, cleaning proportion was a surprise vs. other brewers.Daily Cleaning – No issues for us, let the pot cool down, one drop of dawn, sprayer used to mix up dawn/water then a wash rag around and around, pot is as clean as the day purchased.Cleaning – an icon will lite up after 100 brews to clean the appliance, use the manual. We really like this feature. In the past we did our best to remember to clean the brewer once a month…most of the time we remembered. :-)Alarm – When the bottom is pressed to set the alarm to brew based on the alarm time, it will display the alarm clock time for about ten seconds, this allows you to review the am/pm (who hasn’t gotten that wrong after resetting time after a power outage). The alarm is in edit mode so making adjustments is easy pease.Pot – Oversized spout is GREAT helps prevent the drool/drips on the counter when the pot is full.Burner – It is oversized but not greatly just enough to allow for expansion and contraction, brewer this is replacing was an exact fit after six months of use, the pot no longer sits flat on the burner, pot will not stay warm.Reheat – if you drink coffee most or all of the day, the two-hour keep warm timer with auto shut off that most brewers have can be a pain. This brewer shows a count down, nice, very nice feature. Important note!! This brewer is engineered to monitor for no water in the heating “pipes” and it will auto shut off to prevent damage to the heater/burner etc. At first this was a pain, a real turn off, thought about returning the product. Then I got to thinking, what was the problem with previous brewers, they start leaking or the warmer burns out….Hmm…To avoid the auto shut off mentioned above…before turning the warmer back on because you still have half a pot to drink, add about a finger of water (1/2” ??) to the water reservoir. This is not enough to change the taste of the current pot but its enough to fill the “pipes” and the timer will set for another two hours.Beep – Yes it beeps when it is ready and when the warming timer runs out and it turns off. Nope don’t think there is a way to disable it. If there is absolutely no noise in the house and doors/windows are closed, I can hear it in the next room, but not two rooms away where my home office is. In fact, it is quieter than others we have owned. I like hearing the beep ten minutes before its time to get, I wake with a smile on my face knowing the coffee is ready. For all those saying it gets grinds everywhere ! Are you really drinking 12 cups of coffee hey how about you scale it back to 10 cups you literally have the grinds next to the shower head of the coffee maker!! Second it make a great crema for the coffee read the book on what settings it says to use ( it's a medium coarse) about 6.5 on your grinder I use a burr Krupps grinder. Makes a beautiful cup of coffee! clean it once a month using distilled white vinegar and you'll be fine. I found only using distilled water works great taste great and helps keep the coffee machine clean ! Distilled is better for your body anyways.I like the idea of not many buttons to push. Brewing f out es great. Overall, very nice and I didn’t get an expensive pot!!!Perfect coffee and easy to use. Definitely not disappointed with this one. Keeps coffee hot upto 4 hours. It took a bit to get used to, but this coffee maker is stellar.Good purchase. We had always had a cheap coffee maker and they never lasted very long. I decided to surprise my husband with a new, nicer one and it was worth the money. We've had it for about a year and it still works great. Even on the regular coffee setting you get a nice, full flavor cup of coffee. Even if you just brew a few cups as opposed to a full pot, it's still just as good. The only thing I didn't realize when I bought it that was a bit of a draw back was that there is no warming button. If you don't drink all the coffee in 2 hours, you're out of luck. It doesn't keep me from recommending it though. It's well constructed and well worth the price. I never knew you could make that much a difference in a cup of coffee by just having a better machine!Excellent! This was purchased to replace my previous KitchenAid coffee maker after it died at just 1 year old. This newer model is much larger and takes up more counter space. It performs fine but the heat plate does not keep the coffee hot – I have to put my coffee in the microwave to get it hot. I’m very disappointed and would not purchase again.I have always tried to buy the best quality that I can afford and for small kitchen appliances, that usually means Cuisinart or KitchenAid. After an unfortunate series of mishaps with Cuisinart, I began to only buy from its competitor.Recently, I purchased a new coffee machine to replace a prematurely failing Cuisinart, and opted for the KitchenAid 12-cup Coffee Maker, in onyx black. So far, I love it, but for two tiny irritants: (1) I find filling the reservoir to be a bit awkward. You may either completely remove the reservoir to fill or, since I usually only make four to six cups, I fill the pot and pour it in to through the top. Either way, the reservoir needs to clear the upper cabinets, so it it needs to be pulled far from its "spot" on the counter and (2) I'd love to see something new in the way of heating source. The surface is difficult to clean and should have an option for how long we'd like it to stay on.As I said, two picayune details, but overall a good product.I bought this as a replacement for my mother's coffee maker which died. My mom is elderly and lives in a retirement community. She needed a coffee maker that was extremely easy to use and delivered good results. This definitely fit the bill. Simple to use, excellent flavor. Very easy to clean. I highly recommend this product. We ordered this coffee maker on Amazon Prime. It arrived very quickly and as described. It has a very large pot which is great for our household as we have a few coffee drinkers and one pot per morning is usually enough. The mesh basket filter is very fine so we don't need to use paper filters. There are little to no dregs left at the bottom of the pot. I'd certainly re-buy this. Keeps the coffee nice and hot.I have had a Kitchen Aid coffee maker for a number of years, in fact all my appliances are Kitchen Aid. I would not buy this coffee maker again. Although the measurements seemed to be the same, the shape changed the outcome somewhat. I have limited space and this one seems bulkier. The numbers are small, lines for water mark. It just seems awkward. My old one had square corners and this one is more rounded. I guess that probably is a personal preference. The "bold" indicator only seems to work if you do a timed brew, which I don't. Overall, I just don't like the shape, size or how it makes coffee.
